A police officer accused of being drunk and disorderly has also been charged with attempting to resist arrest and obstructing police, Scotland Yard said.

Mark Toulson, 33, a serving Metropolitan Police officer from Wandsworth, will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on December 12.

He is charged with being drunk and disorderly, using threatening behaviour, two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest and obstructing police.

He was arrested in Wimbledon High Street on Thursday while off-duty and later charged and released on bail.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police: “The status of the officer will be reviewed in due course.

“Officers from Merton are investigating the matter.

“The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed as a matter of course.”
